Frequently Asked Questions
What are my chances of receiving a grant?
Through the Metro Green Apple School Program, Metro allocates $1 million in Québec for the 2012-2013 school year in $1,000 grants. Early registrations will have a better chance of being selected, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How are projects selected to receive grants?
A committee composed of Metro representatives will analyze the projects. When they meet eligibility criteria, they will be automatically accepted and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Is my school eligible?
Every registered elementary or high school, public or private, in Ontario and in Québec is eligible to participate in the program.
Who can submit a project idea?
Anyone affiliated with the school (principal, teacher, professional advisors, nurses, etc.) can submit an idea with the principal’s approval.
Can I submit a project idea on my own?
No, ideas must be submitted on behalf of an eligible school, and must be approved by the school principal.
What types of projects can be submitted?
Our goal is to encourage young Quebecers to adopt healthy eating habits by taking part in a project that will have a positive impact on their home, school or community environment. Types of projects can vary, from creating a garden at school, through cooking classes and healthy lunch boxes. See "Project Ideas" for inspiration.
Is there a deadline for submitting a project?
Yes. All projects must be registered online before March 29, 2013.
What is the number of projects permitted per school?
Schools can submit the number of projects they want. However, in order for the Metro Green Apple School Program to shine in all communities of the province, each school can receive a maximum of two grants per school year. Also, grants will be allocated for two different projects.
Is it normal that I did not receive a confirmation of my project submission?
If you have not received confirmation, it is because we have not received your project. It is possible that an item in one of the mandatory fields was not entered properly (format of date, telephone number, etc.). When an application form is filled out completely, you are asked to click on “submit”. A project number then appears in the upper left-hand corner, indicating that the required information has been registered properly. If it does not, a red list appears with the required fields to be corrected or completed.
Who should I contact if I have more questions?
